An IPv4 Internet User Traversing the IPv6 Network to Access an Intranet Server

The DS-Lite NAT server function enables Internet users to traverse the IPv6 network to access intranet servers using public addresses.

As shown in Figure 1, the carrier MAN is an IPv6 network. A private IPv4 server is deployed for Internet IPv4 users to access. The DS-Lite NAT server function enables Internet users to access intranet servers.

  1. The DS-Lite NAT server function is deployed on the CGN to map a public IPv4 address to a private IPv4 address of the server. This function provides an "interface" for Internet users to access the intranet server through the public IPv4 address.
  2. Translated packets traverse the IPv6 network through the DS-Lite tunnel and reach the CPE, so that the intranet server can be accessed.
