Planning Suggestions

This section describes the knowledge related to business group planning.

Planning the Business Group Backup Relationship

After determining cluster members, you can select a backup plan. For example, there are three DCs, each of which has two FWs. Table 1 and Table 2 show the business group planning.

Business group plan 1: Define three business groups. Each business group corresponds to a DC. Each business group includes all devices. Devices in a local DC preferentially serve as backup devices. Set five backup devices.

Business group: 1/Priority: 100

Business group: 1/Priority: 90

Business group: 1/Priority: 80

The feature of this plan is that all devices join business groups. A large amount of data needs to be backed up, greatly consuming performance. The advantage is high availability. For a single DC, services are interrupted only if all devices fail. Plan 2 balances between performance and availability, as shown in Table 2.

Business group plan 2: Define three business groups. Each business group corresponds to a DC. The services of each business group are dispersedly and evenly backed up to other DCs. Devices in a local DC preferentially serve as backup devices. Set three backup devices.

Item

Full Backup

Partial Backup

Amount of backup data

Large. High backup bandwidth is required.

Medium

Availability

High. Services are interrupted only if all devices fail.

Medium

VM migration scenario

Fully matched. No matter which DC a VM is migrated, it can match backup entries.

Partially matched. Ensure that devices in the DC to which a VM may be migrated have backup entries. Otherwise, services will be interrupted for a short period.

Performance

Low. Full backup greatly consumes resources.

High
