Creating a User-Defined Region

If predefined regions cannot meet requirements, you can create a user-defined region.

Context

A user-defined region does not belong to an existing predefined region. For example, after you create user-defined group New York, statics about traffic from the USA does not include the traffic of user-defined group New York.

By default, private addresses do not belong to any country, province, or city. They belong to an unknown region. To better display the traffic maps related to the LAN, you are advised to add LAN IP addresses to a user-defined region.

Procedure

  1. Access the location view from the system view.

    location

  2. Create a user-defined region.

    geo-location user-defined geo-location-name

  3. Optional: Configure description for the user-defined region.

    description description

  4. Add an IP address.

    add address { ip-address mask { mask-address | mask-length } | range start-ip-address end-ip-address }

If the IP address you are adding to a user-defined region has been added to a user-defined region or predefined region, the addition takes effect and the IP address is removed from the predefined or user-defined region to which the IP address belonged.

  5. Configure the longitude and latitude of a user-defined region to identify the region in the traffic map and threat map on the web UI.

    coordinate longitude longitude-value latitude latitude-value

The longitude or latitude is a decimal in degrees. The longitude ranges from -180.00 to 180.00. A positive number indicates the east longitude and a negative number the west longitude. The latitude ranges from -90.00 to 90.00. A positive number indicates the north latitude and a negative number the south latitude.

Follow-up Procedure

The undo add address command deletes the entire IP address range. For example, if you have added IP address range 10.20.20.20 to 10.20.20.30 for a region, you cannot delete 10.20.20.20 to 10.20.20.25.

Run the rename geo-location command in the location view to rename a user-defined region.
