Configuring the BSR Boundary

A BootStrap router (BSR) boundary can be configured on an interface. Bootstrap messages cannot pass the BSR boundary. Multiple BSR boundary interfaces divide the network into different PIM-SM domains.

Prerequisites

Before configuring the BSR boundary, complete the following tasks:

Configuring a unicast routing protocol
Configuring Basic PIM-SM Functions

Context

Perform the following steps on the FW that may become the BSR boundary:

Procedure

Access the system view.
system-view
Access the interface view.
interface interface-type interface-number
Configure the BSR boundary.
pim bsr-boundary

Bootstrap messages cannot pass the BSR boundary.

By default, all the PIM-SM devices on the network can receive Bootstrap messages.
