Statically Configuring an RP

To configure a static Rendezvous Point (RP), you need to configure the addresses of the loopback interfaces as the RP addresses on all the devices in a PIM-SM domain.

Context

  • When the PIM-SM network uses a BSR-RP, the configuration is not necessary.

  • When the PIM-SM network uses a static RP, the configuration is mandatory.

Perform the following steps on all FWs in the PIM-SM domain:

Procedure

  1. Access the system view.

    system-view

  2. Access the PIM view.

    pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name ]

  3. Set the loopback interface address as a static RP address.
