Configuring the Filtering Rules for SA Messages

By default, a device receives all SA messages that pass the RPF check, and forwards the SA messages to all MSDP peers. To control the transmission of SA messages among MSDP peers, you can configure rules to filter the constructing, receiving, and forwarding SA messages.

Setting Rules for Creating an SA Message: You can set rules for filtering the multicast source of a Source Active (SA) message on the source RP. The source Rendezvous Point (RP) then filters locally registered and active multicast sources, and determines which (S, G) information need be advertised based on the set rules.

Setting Rules for Receiving an SA Message: You can set the rules for filtering the received Source Active (SA) messages on a specified remote MSDP peer. When SA messages sent by a remote MSDP peer reach the local FW, the local FW determines whether to accept the messages based on the set rules.

Setting Rules for Forwarding an SA Message: You can set the rules for filtering the Source Active (SA) messages to be forwarded to a remote MSDP peer on a local FW. The local FW then determines whether to forward the received SA messages based on the set rules.
