Configuring Gratuitous ARP

A gratuitous ARP packet is a special ARP packet whose sender and destination IP addresses are both the local IP addresses, the sender MAC address is the MAC address of the local MAC address, and destination MAC address is the broadcast address. Configuring gratuitous ARP enables a device to proactively learn and send gratuitous ARP packets.

Configuring the Learning of Gratuitous ARP Packets: After the learning of gratuitous ARP packets is configured, a device adds the source IP address and source MAC address carried in gratuitous ARP packets to the dynamic ARP mapping table when no ARP entry matches the source IP address in ARP packets.

Configuring the Sending of Gratuitous ARP Packets: After the sending of gratuitous ARP packets is configured, the device can send user packets to the correct gateway and prevent malicious attackers from obtaining these packets.
