Configuring a Working Mode for an Eth-Trunk Interface

An Eth-Trunk can work in either manual load balancing or static LACP mode. By default, an Eth-Trunk interface works in manual load balancing mode.

Context

  • Manual load balancing mode: All members of an Eth-Trunk interface are in Forwarding state and implement load balancing to transmit traffic.
  • Static LACP mode: An LACP negotiation is performed to determine the status (active/inactive) of the members in an Eth-Trunk interface. Active interface can forward traffic, whereas inactive interface cannot.

Before configuring a working mode for an Eth-Trunk interface, ensure that the Eth-Trunk interface has no member interface. Otherwise, the working mode of the Eth-Trunk cannot be changed. To delete member interfaces of the Eth-Trunk interface, run the undo eth-trunk command in the views of the member interfaces to be deleted.

You can set working modes for Layers 2 and 3 Eth-Trunk interfaces.

Procedure

  1. Access the system view.

    system-view

  2. Access the Eth-Trunk interface view.

    interface eth-trunk trunk-id

  3. Set the working mode of the Eth-Trunk interface to static LACP.

    mode lacp-static

By default, an Eth-Trunk interface works in manual load balancing mode. You can run the undo mode command to set the working mode of the Eth-Trunk interface to manual load balancing.
