Configuring the Maximum Transmission Unit of the Interface

The MTU of an interface determines whether a packet needs to be fragmented when passing through this interface.

Context

The MTU of the interface has the effects on whether to fragment the packets on the interface.

The default MTU value varies with the interface type. Use the display interface command to find out the value used.

Procedure

  1. Access the system view. 

    system-view

  2. Access the interface view. 

    interface interface-type interface-number

  3. Configure the maximum transmission unit of the interface. 

    mtu mtu
