Maintaining NTP

After the NTP configuration is complete, you can run the display command to check the configuration. When an NTP running fault occurs, you can debug NTP using maintenance commands. By checking debugging messages, you can locate and analyze the fault.

Checking NTP Configurations

Clearing Statistics on Global IPv4 NTP Packets

reset ntp-service statistics packet command helps you to reset the statistics of all NTP packets. Once reset, statistics cannot be restored. Therefore, use caution when resetting the statistics.

  • Run the reset ntp-service statistics packet [ ipv6 | peer [ ip-address [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name ] | ipv6 [ ipv6-address [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name ] ] ] ] command to reset the statistics of NTP packets.

Debugging NTP

Before the debugging, you must run the terminal monitor and terminal debugging commands in the user view to enable the display of debugging messages on the terminal, so that debugging messages can be displayed on the terminal.

Enabling the debugging function affects system performance. Therefore, after the debugging, you should run the undo debugging all command to disable the debugging immediately.

For the description of the debugging commands, refer to Debugging Reference.

  • Run the debugging ntp-service { access | adjustment | all | authentication | event | filter | packet [ ipv6 ] [ send | receive ] | parameter | refclock | selection | synchronization | validity } command to enable the NTP debugging function.
