Configuring the Manycast Mode

This part describes how to configure the NTP manycast mode to synchronize clocks in a manycast domain.

Procedure

  • Configuring an NTP Manycast Server

Perform the following steps on the FW functioning as an NTP manycast server:

    1. Access the system view.

      system-view

    2. Set the interface that sends manycast NTP packets.

      interface interface-type interface-number

    3. Configure the FW as an NTP manycast server on an IPv4 or IPv6 network.

  • Configuring an NTP Manycast Client

Perform the following steps on the FW functioning as an NTP manycast client:

    1. Access the system view.

      system-view

    2. Optional: Set the number of local sessions that can be set up dynamically.

      ntp-service max-dynamic-sessions number

By default, a maximum of 100 NTP sessions can be set up dynamically.

Running the command does not affect the existence of NTP sessions. When the number of the sessions reaches or exceeds the maximum, the new session cannot be set up further.

    3. Set the interface that receives manycast NTP packets.

      interface interface-type interface-number

    4. Configure the FW as an NTP manycast client on an IPv4 or IPv6 network.

After the configuration is complete, the local FW senses the manycast NTP packets sent from the server and synchronizes the local clock.
