Application Scenarios for Quota Control Policy
This section describes application scenarios of quota control policies.
As shown in Figure 1, the FW functions as an egress gateway on the intranet border and implements bandwidth management. For enterprise managers, the following problems are common:
- Such applications as P2P downloads and online videos make a small number of employees occupy nearly all of the bandwidth resources. As a result, key services cannot be implemented.
- Enterprises whose settlement expenditure is based on traffic and ISP can no longer leverage the traditional bandwidth limiting mode to deal with such activities as slow but prolonged P2P downloads and caching.
- Employees use the Internet to have entertainment activities, seriously compromising their working efficiency.
To solve the above problems, the FW provides quota control policies to monitor and control employees' Internet access activities from the Internet access traffic and duration dimensions.
