Handling Massive Junk Email Received by Intranet Users

Intranet users receive massive junk email even though mail filtering is enabled.

Symptom

As shown in Figure 1, anti-spam is already configured on the FW. However, intranet users still receive massive junk mails.

Intranet users receive massive junk email even though mail filtering is enabled.

1. The configuration of RBL is incorrect.

Check whether the configuration is incorrect. For details, see Configuring Anti-Spam Based on the IP Address of the SMTP Server.

2: The IP address of the SMTP server that forwards the spam email is not blacklisted in RBL

Add the IP address of the sender SMTP server to the local blacklist. For details, see Configuring Anti-Spam Based on the IP Address of the SMTP Server.

3: The IP address of the SMTP server that forwards the spam email is in the local whitelist.

To remove the source IP address of the SMTP server from the whitelist, see Configuring Anti-Spam Based on the IP Address of the SMTP Server.
