Configuring a Service Object and Service Group Using the Web UI

This section describes how to use the Web UI to configure a service object and service group.

Configuring a User-Defined Service Object

You can specify a protocol type, source port number, and destination port number to identify a service object. You can create one or more services for a service object.

  1. Choose Object > Service > Service.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Configure a name, description, and session timeout for the user-defined service object.

    Session Timeout

    Timeout period of the current service session

  4. In Protocol List, click Add.
  5. Configure parameters for the user-defined service object.

    Description

    Protocol

    Protocol type: TCP, UDP, SCTP, ICMP, ICMPv6 or IP.

    Protocol Number

    • If Protocol is IP, set this parameter.
    • If Protocol is TCP, UDP, SCTP, ICMP or ICMPv6, you do not need to set this parameter.

    Source Port

    Source port number range. When configuring specific ports, use commas (,) to separate different ports. For example, the source port number range is 1,5,7. When configuring a port range, use a hyphen (-) to connect the start and end ports. For example, the source port number range is 0-9.

    If Protocol is TCP, UDP or SCTP set this parameter.

    Destination Port

    Destination port number range. When configuring specific ports, use commas (,) to separate different ports. For example, the destination port number range is 1,5,7. When configuring a port range, use a hyphen (-) to connect the start and end ports. For example, the destination port number range is 0-9.

    If Protocol is TCP, UDP or SCTP set this parameter.

    ICMP/ICMPv6

    Specify an ICMP/ICMPv6 type name. For values, see Table 1 and Table 2.

    If parameter Protocol is ICMP or ICMPv6, set this parameter.

    If parameter ICMP/ICMPv6 is User-define, set this parameter to specify the ICMP/ICMPv6 message type and code.

  6. Click OK.
  7. Click OK.

Configuring a Service Group

You can add predefined and user-defined service objects to a service group.

  1. Choose Object > Service > Service Group.
  2. In Service Group List, click Add.
  3. Configure parameters for the service group.

    Parameter

    Description

    Name

    Name of a service group.

    Description

    Description of a service group.

    Reference Service or Service Group

    You can add the service or service group in the Available box to the Selected box.

    You can enter the name (case-insensitive) or port number in the search box to filter the service or service group in the Available or Selected box.

  4. Click OK.
