Configuring UDP Helper

Pre-configuration Tasks

Before configuring UDP helper, configure a reachable route from the FW to the destination server.

Procedure

  1. Run the system-view command to access the system view.
  2. Run the udp-helper enable command to enable the UDP helper function.
  3. Optional: Run the udp-helper port { port-number | dns | netbios-ds | netbios-ns | tacacs | tftp | time } command to specify the UDP destination port to which UDP broadcast packets are relayed.

After UDP helper is enabled, the FW relays the UDP packets with the following destination ports by default: Time (37), TACACS (49), DNS (53), TFTP (69), NetBIOS-NS (137), and NetBIOS-DS (138). If the UDP destination port you want to specify is among the six ports, skip this step.

  4. Run the interface interface-type interface-number command to access the interface view.
  5. Run the udp-helper server ip-address command to specify the destination server for UDP helper.

Verifying the Configuration

Run the display udp-helper port command to check the UDP port numbers of the packets that need to be relayed.
