Enabling the Virtual System Function

This section describes how to enable the virtual system function. You can configure resource classes and create virtual systems only after the virtual system function is enabled.

Procedure

The web UI provides two methods for enabling the virtual system function:
  • Method 1

Access the Dashboard page. Click Configure next to Virtual System in the Device Information group area. Enable the virtual system function and click OK.

  • Method 2

Choose System > Virtual System > Virtual System. In Virtual System Configuration, enable the virtual system function and click Apply.

To disable the virtual system function, access the virtual system startup page and disable the virtual system function. Before disabling the virtual system function, choose System > Virtual System > Virtual System and delete all created virtual systems from Virtual System List. After the virtual systems are deleted, the resources occupied by the virtual systems are released.

Changes to the Web UI

After the virtual system function is enabled, the Web UI changes as follows:

  • The Virtual System drop-list box is displayed at the upper right corner of the page. If multiple virtual systems, such as vsysa and vsysb, are created on the FW, you can select the name of a virtual system to access the configuration page of the virtual system. In the drop-list box, public indicates the public system, vsysa and vsysb are the virtual systems that the administrator has created.

  • After the virtual system function is disabled, choose System > Virtual System > Virtual System. You can find that Virtual System List is automatically hidden. No virtual system can be configured. Choose System > Virtual System > Resource Class. The configured resource classes and distributable resources can be viewed, but no resource class can be added, modified, or deleted.
