Usage Guidelines

By default, the HRP dual-system hot backup is disabled.

The automatic backup or manual backup command takes effect only after the dual-system hot backup is enabled.

Before enabling HRP, make sure that interface configuration on the master and backup FWs are consistent in the following aspects:

  • The position, type and number of the Service Processing Units (SPUs) should be consistent.
  • The position, type and number of the Line Processing Units (LPUs) should be consistent.
  • Interfaces or sub-interfaces of corresponding slots must be added into the same zone.
  • Configurations of the HRP backup channels on the master and backup FWs must be consistent.
  • The software version of the master and backup FWs should be consistent.

After the dual-system hot backup is disabled, configuration commands and connection status cannot be backed up; however, the VRRP backup groups can still be added to or deleted from the VGMP management group.

In mirror mode, the undo hrp enable command supports backup. If you run the undo hrp enable command on one FW, the hot standby function is disabled on both FWs.
