The mac-address command adds a MAC address to a MAC address group.
The undo mac-address command deletes a MAC address from a MAC address group.
| Parameter | Description | Value |
|---|---|---|
| mac-address | Specifies a MAC address. | The value is in H-H-H format. H represents one to four hexadecimal digits, such as 00e0 and fc01. If you enter less than four digits, 0s are added before the digits you enter. For example, if you enter e0, two 0s are added before e0. That is e0 equals to 00e0. |
In a MAC address authentication scenario, the administrator needs to first create a MAC address group on the virtual gateway and add users' MAC addresses to the MAC address group. When a user's authentication request that carries the MAC address reaches the virtual gateway, the virtual gateway searches the MAC address group for a MAC address same as that of the user. If the MAC address is found, the user passes the authentication and can go online normally. If the MAC address cannot be found, the user fails the authentication, and the virtual gateway rejects the user's login request.
