vrrp vrid timer advertise

Function

The vrrp vrid timer advertise command sets the interval at which the master device in the backup group sends Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) packets.

The undo vrrp vrid timer advertise command restores the default interval.

Format

vrrp vrid virtual-router-id timer advertise advertise-interval

undo vrrp vrid virtual-router-id timer advertise

Parameters

Parameter Description Value
virtual-router-id Specifies the ID of a VRRP backup group. The value must be the ID of an existing VRRP backup group.
advertise-interval Indicates the interval at which the master device in the backup group sends VRRP packets, in seconds. The value is an integer, in seconds. For VRRPv2, the value ranges from 1 to 255; for VRRPv3, the value ranges from 1 to 40.

Usage Guidelines

By default, the master device in the backup group sends VRRPv2 packets every 60 seconds and sends VRRPv3 packets every 40 seconds.

Pre-configuration Tasks

A VRRP IPv4 backup group has been configured on the router.

Example

# Set interval at which the Master in backup group 1 sends VRRP packets to 5 seconds.
