Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

When multiple C-BSRs take part in the BootStrap router (BSR) election in the PIM-SM domain, the following situations occur:

  • The FW with the highest priority wins in the BSR election.

  • In the case of the same priority, the FW with the largest IP address wins in the BSR election.

To enable a C-BSR to function as the BSR, you can run the c-bsr priority command to increase the priority value of the C-BSR.

Prerequisites

The multicast routing-enable command has been run.

Configuration Impact

If the c-bsr priority command is run several times, the latest configuration overrides the previous one.

Precautions

The global priority set using the c-bsr priority command is valid to all C-BSRs on the FW. To modify the priority of the C-BSR on an interface, run the c-bsr command.

The c-bsr command is valid only for a specified interface. When the two commands are used simultaneously, the system prefers the configuration done using the c-bsr command.

Example

# Configure the global priority of the C-BSR to 5.

<sysname> system-view
[sysname] multicast routing-enable
[sysname] pim
[sysname-pim] c-bsr priority 5
