Function

The damping time command can configure the period during which the VLAN turns to Down (caused by the Down interface) and the VLAN reports the Down status to VLANIF.

The undo damping time command can configure the VLAN reports the Down status to VLANIF without delay.

Parameters

Parameter Description Value
delay-time Specifies the period during which the VLAN turns to Down (caused by the Down interface) and VLAN reports the Down status to VLANIF. The value is an integer ranging from 0 to 20, in seconds. Value 0 indicates no delay, and the undo damping time command also indicates no delay.

Usage Guidelines

To prevent network flapping caused by the change of the VLANIF interface status, you can enable VLAN damping on the VLANIF interface. In this manner, you can delay the time for the VLANIF interface to go Down.

By default, VLAN reports the Down status to VLANIF without delay.

Example

# Configure the time for VLAN 1 to report the VLAN Down event to VLANIF 1 to 10 seconds.

[sysname] vlan 1
[sysname-vlan-1] quit
[sysname] interface vlanif 1
[sysname-Vlanif1] damping time 10
