Usage Guidelines

By default, an SA message contains only (S, G) entries and does not encapsulate any multicast data packet.

The source Rendezvous Point (RP) encapsulates the information about all active sources in many SA messages. Each SA message can contain multiple (S, G) entries.

After the encap-data-enable command is used on the RP at the source side, the RP encapsulates in an SA message the multicast data carried in the Register message, and then sends the SA message to the MSDP peer. Only one multicast data packet can be encapsulated in an SA message.

After the encap-data-enable command is used on the MSDP peer, the FW can transmit the SA messages that carry a multicast data packet between ASs.
