Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

LDP GR, with the help of a Helper, ensures uninterrupted forwarding during an active/standby switchover or a protocol restart.

If LDP GR is not enabled on a device, during an active/standby switchover or an upgrade, the neighboring device deletes a label switched path (LSP) established because the session is in the Down state. As a result, traffic is temporarily interrupted. LDP GR can be configured to allow uninterrupted MPLS forwarding after an unexpected active/standby switchover or a protocol restart.

Prerequisites

MPLS LDP has been enabled globally using the mpls ldp command in the system view.

Precautions

Enabling or disabling GR causes the reestablishment of all LDP sessions.

Example

# Enable LDP GR.

<sysname> system-view
[sysname] mpls ldp
[sysname-mpls-ldp] graceful-restart
