Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

The ipv6 nd autoconfig other-flag command can be run on Ethernet interfaces and sub-interfaces, Gigabit Ethernet interfaces and sub-interfaces, VLANIF interfaces, and tunnel interfaces.

  • If the flag bit is set, a host can obtain configurations (excluding an IPv6 address) such as the router lifetime, neighbor reachable time, retransmission interval, and PMTU by means of stateful auto-configuration.
  • If the flag bit is cleared, a host can obtain configurations (excluding an IPv6 address) such as the router lifetime, neighbor reachable time, retransmission interval, and PMTU by means of stateless auto-configuration. This means that a routing device advertises these configurations using RA messages to the attached hosts.

Prerequisites

The ipv6 enable command has been run in the interface view to enable IPv6.

Configuration Impact

If the ipv6 nd autoconfig managed-address-flag command is run, hosts can obtain additional configuration information (excluding IPv6 addresses) though the ipv6 nd autoconfig other-flag command is not run.

Example

# Set the information flag bit for the stateful auto configuration.

<sysname> system-view
[sysname] interface gigaitethernet 1/0/1
[sysname-GigabitEthernet 0/0/1] ipv6 nd autoconfig other-flag
