The pim require-genid command configures a PIM interface to reject the Hello messages without the generation ID.
The undo pim require-genid command restores the default configuration.
By default, a PIM interface receives the Hello messages without the generation ID.
After an interface on a FW is enabled with PIM, the FW generates a random number as the generation ID of the Hello message. If the status of the FW is updated, the FW generates a new Generation ID.
If a FW finds that the Hello message received from a PIM neighbor contains a different Generation ID, the FW considers that the status of the PIM neighbor changes.
You must run the multicast routing-enable command to enable the multicast function before using the command.
