(Optional) Configuring Timers Used in 802.1X Authentication

Context

802.1X authentication uses timers to control retransmission of EAP-Request/Identity and EAP-Request/MD5 Challenge packets.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run dot1x timer tx-period tx-period-value

    The interval at which the device sends 802.1X authentication requests is set.

    By default, the device sends 802.1X authentication requests at an interval of 30 seconds.

  3. Run dot1x-access-profile name access-profile-name

    The 802.1X access profile view is displayed.

  4. Run dot1x timer client-timeout client-timeout-value

    The timeout interval for the device to wait for an authentication response from a client is configured.

    By default, the timeout interval for the device to wait for an authentication response from a client is 5 seconds.

  5. Run dot1x retry max-retry-value

    The number of times an authentication request is retransmitted to an 802.1X user is configured.

    By default, the device retransmits an authentication request to an 802.1X user twice.
