Function

The safe-search enable command enables the safe search function of a search engine.

The undo safe-search enable command disables the safe search function of the search engine.

Usage Guidelines

By default, the safe search function of the search engine is disabled.

Usage Scenario

To configure the safe search function of the search engine, add the safe search tag in the URL contained in the search request and enable the function of filtering search results.

The safe search function of the FW can be used to by the administrator to enable safe search function for all Internet access users to regulate Internet access behavior. You can run the safe-search enable command on the FW to forcibly add the safe search tag to the search requests of Bing, Google, Yahoo, Yandex, and YouTube to filter the search results of the search engines.

Prerequisites

The function takes effect only after a TCP proxy policy and an SSL-encrypted traffic detection policy are configured on the FW:

For HTTP search requests, you need to configure a TCP proxy policy on the FW.
For HTTPS search requests, you need to configure an SSL-encrypted traffic detection policy on the FW.

Only Bing has HTTP search requests, and the other four search engines have only HTTPS search requests.

Precautions

Only the USG6510E/6510E-POE/6530E does not support safe search for HTTP search requests.

After the function is enabled on the FW, the FW filters search results based on the most strict filtering strength when a search engine has multiple filtering strengths.

The FW does not implement safe search for the following packets:

Search requests of search engines excluding Bing, Google, Yahoo, Yandex, and YouTube
Search requests carrying the safe search tag after the safe search function is enabled for a browser
Whitelisted or blocked search requests
Fragments

When an SSL proxy is deployed between a browser and a proxy server of the browser, safe search of the FW to which search requests correspond does not take effect.
