What Is the Difference Between an Application and a Service?
Service refers to well-known protocols or user-defined protocols. Application, with a more specific definition, refers to a specific application program. A service contains multiple applications.
Can I Delete or Modify a Predefined Application?
Predefined applications cannot be modified or deleted. You can obtain the latest predefined applications by updating the service awareness signature database.
How Can I Block an Application Containing Sub-Applications?
An application may contain multiple sub-applications. To block this application, block all of its sub-applications. For example, Skype contains Skype_IM and Skype_VoIP. To block Skype, block Skype_IM and Skype_VoIP.
To query sub-applications of an application, enter the application name and click Search to display the application description. By checking the description of the application, you can get the relating application.
