URL Filtering Profile

This section describes the URL filtering profile.

The URL filtering profile is a series of URL filtering control sets. You can configure the URL filtering profile and reference it in the security policy to implement the URL filtering function.

The configuration of the URL filtering profile includes the URL filtering mode (such as blacklist and whitelist, URL category), action, and other advanced configurations. The control actions defined for URL filtering include allow, alert, and block in ascending order of their severity.

Allow: allows users to access the requested URL.
Alert: allows users to access the requested URL and generates a log.
Block: blocks users to access the requested URL and generates a log.

If a URL belongs to multiple categories, the FW takes an action based on the action mode.

Strict: The FW takes the strictest action among all matched categories. For example, a URL belongs to two categories, and the actions are Alert and Block. In this case, the FW takes the Block action.
Lenient: The FW takes the loosest action among all matched categories. For example, a URL belongs to two categories, and the actions are Alert and Block. In this case, the FW takes the Alert action.
