Interworking Between BFD and IS-IS
This section describes the application scenario of interworking between BFD and IS-IS.
When interworking with IS-IS, BFD can rapidly sense link changes and converges routes.
As shown in Figure 1, when the link between Router_A and Router_B fails, BFD can rapidly detect the fault and report it to the IS-IS protocol. Then IS-IS shuts down the interfaces connecting to the neighbors and deletes the neighboring IP protocols to trigger topology calculation and update the Link State PDUs (LSP) so that other neighbors (such as neighbors Router_C of Router_B) can receive the updated LSP of Router_B in time to complete fast network topology convergence.
