BootLoader Overview

The BootLoader loads and upgrades the system software and commissions and checks the system after power-on.

Introduction

The BootLoader menu is a series of operable menu options provided by the underlying control software uBoot of the device. The uBoot program mainly provides two functions: system software loading and menu control. During the startup of the device, start the uBoot program and load the system software through the uBoot program. The menu control function is presented by the BootLoader menu to facilitate the loading of system software.

During the startup of the device, press Ctrl+B to enter the BootLoader menu as prompted. The BootLoader menu provides various functions, including file transfer, startup file setting, configuration file backup, and BootLoader password change.

Application Scenario

Generally, if the device can be started normally, you do not need to use the BootLoader menu. You can use the BootLoader menu to handle the following problems:

  • If the system breaks down and the CLI cannot be accessed, you can use the BootLoader menu to restore or upgrade the system.
  • If you forget the login password of the console port and cannot log in to the device, you can use the BootLoader menu and submenu to set the startup with empty configuration, and then enter the system to reconfigure the console port login password.
  • To view the startup process of the device, you must log in to the device through the console port. Then, press the shortcut key as prompted to enter the BootLoader menu.
  • When you operate the device through the BootLoader menu, ensure that the device is powered on normally. Otherwise, the configuration performed using the BootLoader menu will be lost.
  • The BootLoader is automatically upgraded along with the system upgrade. Therefore, you do not need to separately upgrade the BootLoader.
