Introduction of the BootLoader Menu

This section describes key options in the startup information and each BootLoader menu.

BootLoader Menu

The BootLoader loads and upgrades the system software and commissions and checks the system after power-on. During device startup, press Ctrl+B within 3 seconds to enter the BootLoader menu when message "Press Ctrl+B to stop auto startup..." is displayed.

Enter Password

Enter the BootLoader password.

By default, the BootLoader password is empty. When you log in to the system for the first time, the system prompts you to set a new password. The password must be a string of at least eight characters, including at least two types of the following: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, and special characters (such as ! @ # $ %).

Info: The password is empty. For security purposes, change the password.        
The password must contain at least 2 of these characters: upper-case letters, lo
wer-case letters, digits, and special characters.

After the new password is set, the system restarts if you enter incorrect passwords for three consecutive times in subsequent logins.

To change or clear the password, access the Password manager submenu. To ensure security, you are advised to periodically change the password.

1. Default startup

Perform this operation to directly start the device using the current configuration.

This operation does not restart the BootLoader, but continues to start the system.

2. Serial submenu

Access this submenu to change the transmission rate of the console port.

After the transmission rate of the console port on the device is changed, change the transmission rate of the port on the connected PC to the same rate and re-establish the connection between the device and PC.

You can perform the following operations:

  • 1. Modify baudrate: Re-set the transmission rate. By default, the transmission rate of the console port is 9600 bit/s.
  • 0. Return: Return to the main menu.

3. Ethernet submenu

Access this submenu to change the system software or patch file.

This operation features fast file transfer rate, but you must configure network parameters and an FTP, a TFTP, or an SFTP server to ensure that there are reachable routes between the device and FTP/TFTP/SFTP server.

You can perform the following operations:

  • 1. Update software: Enter a local file name to update the software or use the XModem protocol to download an updated CPLD file. The name of the file can contain the following special characters:

    @ # ^ - = + { } , . _

  • 2. Display parameters: View the FTP type and server IP address, local IP address, local gateway, and FTP user name and password.
  • 3. Modify parameters: Re-set parameters. In V600R007C20SPC300 and later versions, when you reset the username and password for FTP, TFTP, and SFTP, the username and password cannot contain the following special characters:

    \\ < > * ? \ " " | ` $ & ~ / \ [ ] ( ) ! %

  • 0. Return: Return to the main menu.

4. Startup parameters submenu

Access this submenu to view or modify startup configuration.

You can perform the following operations:

  • 1. Display current startup configuration: View the configuration of the current startup file.
  • 2. Modify the startup file: Enter the file name to change the startup system file in hda1. The file must be in .bin format. If there is no need to change the system file, press Enter.
  • 3. Check the startup file: Check the startup file. You can set, clear, or view the file check flag.
  • 0. Return: Return to the main menu.
    NOTE:

    Only V600R007C20SPC501 and earlier versions support the Check the startup file menu.

5. File system submenu

Access this submenu to view the file system or backup files.

Table 2 describes the operations that can be performed after you access this submenu.

6. Password manager submenu

Access this submenu to change the password for accessing the BootLoader menu, preventing unauthorized users from accessing the BootLoader menu.

You can perform the following operations:

  • 1. Modify bootloader password: Change the BootLoader password. The new password must be a string of at least eight characters, including at least two types of the following: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, and special characters (such as ! @ # $ %).
  • 2. Reset bootloader password: Clear the password for accessing the BootLoader menu. When you perform this operation, the system prompts you to reset the BootLoader password to empty. To achieve this, select Y and enter the current BootLoader password. The system restarts if you enter incorrect passwords for three consecutive times.
  • 0. Return: Return to the main menu.
NOTICE:

Keep the BootLoader password secure to prevent unauthorized users from accessing the BootLoader menu and performing unauthorized operations on the device.

7. DFX submenu

This menu is supported in V600R007C20SPC300 and later versions.

After entering the DFX submenu, you can perform the following operations:

  • 1. Display board e-label: displays the board e-label.
  • 0. Return: Return to the main menu.

8. Reset factory configuration

Restore the factory settings. All configurations will be restored to the initial status. This operation can be performed only after you enter the correct BootLoader password. The system restarts if you enter incorrect passwords for three consecutive times.

9. Reset factory password

Reset the administrator password, which is left empty by default. This operation can be performed only after you enter the correct BootLoader password. The system restarts if you enter incorrect passwords for three consecutive times.

You can perform this operation when you forget the administrator password. Then you do not need to enter the administrator account and password when logging in to the device for the first time after the device restart. After logging in to the device, set the administrator password and log out of the device in a timely manner to ensure device security.

0. Reboot

Restart the device. Different from the Default startup operation, this operation will enter the BootLoader restart phase and then continue to start the device.

<1> Flash file system

View the file system of the device. You can perform the following operations:

  • 1. List file: List files. You can see the usage of the hda1 partition.
  • 2. Rename file: Rename a file. The name of the file can contain the following special characters:

    @ # ^ - = + { } , . _

  • 3. Delete file: Delete a file.
    NOTE:

    After the file is deleted, your system may fail to start. Exercise caution when performing this operation.

  • 4. Format flash: Format the flash. You can enter Y or N to determine whether to perform formatting.
    NOTE:

    Formatting may cause loss of all files in the hda1 partition. Exercise caution when performing this operation.

  • 5. Download file from server: Download a file from the server to the device. The name of the file can contain the following special characters:

    @ # ^ - = + { } , . _

  • 0. Return: Return to the previous menu.

Return to the previous menu.

  • USG6510E/6510E-POE, USG6530E, USG6515E/6550E/6560E/6580E, and USG6525E/6555E/6565E/6575E-B/6585E/6605E-B, USG6615E/6625E, USG6635E/6655E: In versions earlier than V600R007C20SPC300, you can press Ctrl+T to access the maintenance menu. In V600R007C20SPC300 and later versions, this function is not supported.
  • USG6610E/6620E, USG6630E/6650E, USG6680E and USG6712E/6716E: In all versions, you cannot press Ctrl+T to access the maintenance menu.

Enter the level-2 maintenance menu.

<10> Third Diag Menu

Enter the level-3 maintenance menu.

<11> DDR ECC Enable

Enable DDR ECC.

<12> DDR ECC Disable

Disable DDR ECC.

<13> DDR Read Time Scan

Scan the DDR read timing parameters.

<14> DDR Write Time Scan

Scan the DDR write timing parameters.

<15> DDR CA Setup Time Scan

Scan the DDR CA setup time.

<16> DDR CA Hold Time Scan

Scan the DDR CA hold time.

<17> DDR margin test

Scan the DDR timing parameters.

<18> Show DDR Config Registers

Display all DDR configuration registers.

<19> Keep DDR Writing

Keep DDR writing.

<20> Keep DDR Reading

Keep DDR reading.

<L> Language Switch

Switch to another language.

<R> Reboot System

Reboot the board.

<E> Exit Menu

Exit from the menu.
