Starting a BGP4+ Process

Starting a BGP4+ process is a prerequisite for configuring basic BGP4+ functions. When starting a BGP4+ process, you need to specify the number of the AS that the device belongs to.

Procedure

  1. Access the system view.

  2. Access the BGP view.

  3. (Optional) Set a router ID.

    router-id ipv4-address

Configuring or changing the router ID of BGP results in the reset of the BGP peer relationship between routers.

To enhance the network reliability, you are recommended to manually configure the address of the loopback interface as the router ID. If the router ID is not set, BGP selects the router ID in the system view as the router ID.

If no interface of a router is configured with an IPv4 address, you must set a router ID for the router.
