Configuring File Sharing

Context

You need to enable file sharing and specify file sharing resources (file directories) on the intranet file server.

Procedure

  1. In the Configure File Sharing area, select File Sharing.

    You need to select Enable only when configuring file sharing services by clicking at the right side of the virtual gateway. If you configure file sharing services in wizard mode, Enable will be selected by default.

  2. Configure file sharing resources.
    1. Click Add in the File Sharing Resource List area.

      If the configuration of the new resource is similar to that of an existing resource, you can select the existing resource, click, and create a file sharing resource based on the parameters of the existing resource.

    2. Configure file sharing resources.

      Parameter

      Description

      Name

      Defines a name for the file sharing resource accessible to users.

      Path

      The path format of a shared resource is related to the resource type.

      • Format of the SMB resources: //IP address (host name)/shared folder. The path for SMB resources can contain only one-level shared folder directories. The value is case insensitive.
      • Format of the NFS resources: //IP address (host name)/dir1/dir2/shared folder. The path for SMB resources can contain multi-level shared folder directories. The value is case sensitive.

      Type

      Specifies the protocol type of file sharing resources.

      • In a Windows operating system, the type is SMB.
      • In a Linux operating system, the type is NFS.

      Description

      Describes shared file resources This exerts no impact on any other configuration.
