Configuring Ping Proxy Using the Web UI

This section describes how to configure ping proxy on the FW by setting the policy action to ping proxy so that the FW can implement ping proxy on the traffic matching the specified policy.

Procedure

  1. Choose Policy > Security Protection > Ping Proxy.
  2. On the Ping Proxy Management page, select Enable for Ping Proxy.
  3. Click Apply.
  4. On the Ping Proxy List page, click Add.
  5. Configure a ping proxy policy. For parameter description, see Table 1.

    Parameter

    Description

    Name

    Enter a name for the ping proxy policy.

    The value can be a string of a maximum of 32 characters without any question mark (?), comma (,), quotation mark ("), or hyphen (-) and must not be all or any.

    Server IP Address

    Set the IP address of the server that requires ping proxy.

    The parameter can be configured as a single IPv4 address.

    Detection Interval

    Set the interval for sending probe packets.

    After you select Enable for ping proxy, the FW sends probe packets in the specified interval to detect the server status.
    • If the FW receives a response packet from the server, the server status is Up.

    • If the FW does not receive any response packet from the server and the number of probes reaches Maximum tries, the server status is Down.

    Maximum Tries

    Set the number of retransmission times.

    If the FW does not receive any reply packets from the server and the number of probes reaches Maximum tries, the server status is Down.

    Client Address

    Set the client address range to be proxied.

    The value can be IPv4 addresses or address groups. You can also set it to any which represents any address or address group.

    A maximum of three client addresses or address groups are allowed.

  6. Click OK.
