description (interface view)

Function

The description command sets the interface description.

The undo description command restores the default interface description.

Parameter Description Value

interface-description

Specifies the description of an interface.

The value is a case-sensitive string of 1 to 80 characters, with spaces supported.

Usage Guidelines

The description command is only used to identify an interface, and it has no special meaning or usage. The display interface command displays the description, which begins with the first entered non-space character. A maximum of 80 characters can be displayed.

Example

# Describe GigabitEthernet 0/0/1 as Connect to 192.168.1.1.

<sysname> system-view
[sysname] interface GigabitEthernet 0/0/1
[sysname-GigabitEthernet0/0/1] description Connect to 192.168.1.1
