The set device port-config-mode 40g-port enable command enables the 40GE interface mode.
The undo set device port-config-mode 40g-port enable command disables the 40GE interface mode.
The USG6680E and USG6635E/6655E support this command but vary in the functions implemented using this command.
USG6680E:
By default, the 40GE interface mode is disabled. XGE0/0/20 to XGE0/0/27, 40GE0/0/0, and 40GE0/0/1 are valid. In addition, 40GE0/0/2 and 40GE0/0/3 are mutually exclusive with XGE0/0/20 to XGE0/0/27. If more 40GE interfaces are required, run the set device port-config-mode 40g-port enable command to add 40GE0/0/2 and 40GE0/0/3. In this case, XGE0/0/20 to XGE0/0/27 become invalid.
After the command for enabling the 40GE interface mode is run, the command takes effect only after the device is restarted. So before running this command, you are advised to check whether services are configured on these 10GE interfaces and run the save command to save the configuration to prevent the configuration loss on XGE0/0/20 to XGE0/0/27 after the device is restarted. When the number of device interfaces (including physical and logical interfaces) more than 4088, the 40GE interface mode cannot be disabled. Otherwise, configurations may be lost.
USG6635E/6655E:
By default, the 40GE interface mode is disabled. XGE0/0/0 to XGE0/0/11 and 40GE0/0/0 are valid. In addition, 40GE0/0/1 is mutually exclusive with XGE0/0/8 to XGE0/0/1. If more 40GE interfaces are required, run the set device port-config-mode 40g-port enable command to add 40GE0/0/1. In this case, XGE0/0/8 to XGE0/0/11 become invalid.

When the number of device interfaces (including physical and logical interfaces) more than 4088, the 100GE interface mode cannot be disabled. Otherwise, configurations may be lost.
<sysname> system-view [sysname] set device port-config-mode 40g-port enable Warning: The interface 40GE0/0/2 and 40GE0/0/3 will be available, and XGE0/0/20 ~ XGE0/0/27 will be unavailable. The original interface and configuration will be lost, and the device will reboot right now. Continue? [Y/N] y
