The reset pim control-message counters command resets the statistics about PIM Control messages.
reset pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] control-message counters [ interface interface-type interface-number ]

When the reset pim control-message counters command is used, the following situations occur:
If vpn-instance or all-instance is not specified, the statistics about only the public network instance are reset.
If interface is not specified, the statistics about PIM control messages of all interfaces of the instance on the FW are reset. After the statistics about PIM control messages are reset, PIM still works normally.
