Limitations and Precautions for 802.1x

Hardware Requirements

Only the USG6510E/6510E-POE/6530E, USG6515E/6550E/6560E/6580E, USG6525E/6555E/6565E/6575E-B/6585E/6605E-B and USG6615E/6625E support 802.1.x.

License Requirements

802.1x is not license-controlled.

Precautions

• Currently, 802.1x can be enabled only on Layer-2 physical interfaces templates.
• If EAP relay authentication is used, ensure that the RADIUS server supports the corresponding EAP authentication method.
• If a Layer-2 switch exists between the FW and users, transparent transmission of 802.1x authentication packets needs to be enabled on the switch. Otherwise, user authentication fails.
• 802.1x does not support virtualization and IPv6.
