Limitations and Precautions for Interfaces

Hardware Requirements

The interfaces function is supported by all models.

License Requirements

The interfaces function is not license-controlled.

Restrictions

  • The interface can forward both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic.
  • The FW supports the forwarding of IPv6 packets, but service packets cannot enter and leave the device through the same interface. Otherwise, ICMP error packets are sent. If you have to use the same physical interface to receive and send service packets, you can configure different sub-interfaces for incoming and outgoing traffic.
  • The bandwidths of upstream and downstream physical links must be the same, and the bandwidths must be greater than the peak traffic rate to prevent traffic congestion from affecting services.
  • WAN and METH interfaces cannot work in Layer 2 mode.
  • An HA interface cannot be assigned to a security zone.
  • For the USG6575E-B/6605E-B, combo ports numbered from GE0/0/20 to GE0/0/23 support the hardware bypass function when working in electrical interface state. However, the hardware bypass function is mutually exclusive with the optical interface function of the combo port. When the combo port works in the optical interface state, its electrical interface cannot be used as a bypass interface, and the hardware bypass function cannot be configured. When the hardware bypass function is configured on the electrical interface, the combo port cannot be switched to the optical interface state. You must delete the hardware bypass configuration first.
