Application Scenarios for Antivirus

This section describes the application scenarios of antivirus.

Antivirus is enabled to protect the intranet in the following scenarios:

• Intranet users can access the Internet, and need to download files from the Internet frequently.
• The servers deployed on the intranet need to receive files uploaded by Internet users.

As shown in Figure 1, the FW, as a gateway device, isolates the intranet and Internet. PCs and servers reside on the intranet. Intranet users can download files from the Internet, and Internet users can upload files to the intranet server. To protect the intranet PCs and servers, you must configure antivirus on the FW.

After antivirus is configured on the FW, normal files can be transferred to the intranet, and the FW can identify virus-infected files and takes necessary measures (block or alert).
